CARD Academy is a place where students can learn, play, and thrive.

Designed after the CARD home-based therapy programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), CARD has developed an institution focused on teaching excellence.

CARD Academy and its parent company the Center for Autism and Related Disorders have over 20 years of experience working with children and families affected by ASDs. Our goal is to give children a top-quality education provided by the most experienced and trained teachers in the field, in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.

MISSION

To further the "whole" child's development from academic and social to cognition and self-help, through results- oriented teaching

To support and educate families so that classroom teachings are enhanced and maintained at home

To work with community agencies to advocate for children and families dealing with the challenges of autism

To conduct and support rigorous scientific research of educational teaching methods and curriculum

This is accomplished through:

  • Careful and continuous assessment
  • Creation of tailored lesson plans tied to the assessment outcomes
  • Implementation of lesson plans by highly trained expert teachers
  • Diligent data tracking and reporting
  • Helping them achieve the most they can
  • Open communication and collaboration with the child's family

TEACHING MODEL

Each student receives a personalized curriculum based on their performance on several assessments. The initial and on-going assessments ensure that the academic program is focused on the student's strengths and weaknesses. Once the assessment is completed, teachers and administrators work to create a dynamic Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The IEP provides a roadmap on which teachers will focus. Lessons will include 1:1, 1:2 and small group instruction. Teachers are highly trained in teaching techniques rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a scientifically-proven method for teaching skills to children with ASDs. The programs are results-oriented to help children develop new skills and knowledge at a pace that is challenging, but appropriate.
